In nowadays progressive world, scientific progresses and related achievements are created such a situation in which increasing safety and decreasing risks are converging to improve the quality of living environment and life style. Perhaps one of the uppermost fear of human being is getting stocked in fire. Therefore, fire as a destructive phenomena, is always a threat for society and this causes irrecoverable damages either materially or spiritually. Eventually human for many years attempted to control the scope of fire damages based on their facilities and circumstances in different ages. The main role of anti fire coatings is to prevent and delay the fire spreading and decreasing the material and human damages.
Anti fire intumescent coatings :
In fact, anti fire intumescent coatings are a kind of puffy and inflatable material that as soon as the first flame reaches to the surface, it creates a solid black foam with the thickness of 2.5 cm . That contains millions of little fire proof cells. this foam acts as an insulator which postpones the conduct and transfer of fire or in fact the heat to the under layer up to approximately one hour. Actually the materials and studding in our environment are all flammable and they could spread the fire, so applying anti fire coatings postpone the time from seconds to one hour. This delay is considered as a valuable, important and unimaginable opportunity in fire crisis and accident.

How to apply anti fire intumescent paints:
In order to apply anti fire coatings on the steel structures, first the surface must be prepared and suitable primer should be applied and then apply the anti fire coating. This kind of coating can be applied in a short time and vary easily with various tools (Airless Paint gun, Brush and Roller) with any possible angles and bent . The applied thickness of paints depends on the type and form of the structure , thickness of steel sheet , application environment , firefighting facilities and other aspects and it can be defined and applied within the range of 0.5 mm to 2mm.
In case of impact, the surface which is covered with anti fire intumescent coating can be repaired and amended with brush easily.
The final surface of this kind of anti fire coating is smooth so that after final coating there is no need for smoothing process of the surface . In order to protect the intumescent anti fire coating, applying a suitable paint layer is recommended .
1 - Solvent base intumescent paints (ALCO-5002) :
These paints are intumescent solvent base coatings which protect the interior and exterior surfaces against fire and applied in order to increase resistance against fire or in fact heat on steel shaft and beams.
In order to dilute these paints, the solvent can be used .This kind of paint is more applied in humid outdoor areas.
2 - Water base intumescent paints (ALCO-5001) :
This kind of paints are applied in indoor areas like hospitals and other places which solvent base are not suitable because of environmental limitations.
Note: Alvan anti fire intumescent paints either water base or solvent base create a foam layer in case of fire which does not produce and emit rancid and poisonous gas and it is halogen free.
